Trump Vows Total Victory Over Iran Within Two Weeks
Speaking during a telerally for Sen. Lindsey Graham, a close Republican ally, Trump struck a triumphant tone.
"We've been a very tough team, and I think we are winning that battle, but you're really going to win it over the next two weeks when we declare total victory," Trump said. "It'll be a total victory. It'll happen very soon, and oil prices will come tumbling down."
The remarks landed hours after Iran announced it was standing down its assault on Israel — though Tehran issued a stark warning that any continuation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon would trigger a "crushing" response. Iran's military said Israel and its allies "should have learned" lessons from Tehran's response.
The latest flare-up was ignited Sunday when Israel bombed the Lebanese capital Beirut in defiance of an active ceasefire agreement. The strike drew immediate retaliation, with Iran launching missiles into northern Israel — prompting successive waves of Israeli airstrikes against Iranian targets in return.
Trump stepped in early Monday, taking to his Truth Social platform to demand that both Israel and Iran cease hostilities "immediately." By Monday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation in a televised statement, confirming that the fighting with Iran had stopped — but stopping well short of a permanent declaration.
"For now," Netanyahu said of the ceasefire, adding that Israel would not hesitate to retaliate if attacked again — a caveat that left the fragile calm hanging by a thread.
